Building digital into autism services

An innovative technology start-up, Brain in Hand gives people with autism, mental health conditions and learning disabilities a new way to access support. It arms people with access to personalised support and a lifeline to a team of professionals, whenever and wherever they are. But with no media presence and no clear message, it needed to build awareness and credibility.

We built a programme that focused on human interest, on the life-changing stories of its users. In parallel, we also focused on its relationship with industry influencers, building vehicles to highlight these.

Alongside PR, we created copy, a website and arranged BBC training for the team on how to create great content, which has led to touching home-made customer stories.

Results
This simple approach led to national coverage, including the One Show, BBC, ITV, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, Which? Magazine, plus specialist press such as Your Autism and Autism Eye.

The National Autistic Society promoted the technology, running twitter Q&As, articles and features about Brain in Hand. The technology was discussed in Parliament and included in advisory reports.

Since working with Brain in Hand, the company has grown from a team of 6 to exceeding its ambitious growth targets.
